Join In Bob Stewart's Christmas Giving ~ Remembering The Past and Celebrating the Future!

Bob Stewart put out a post about an abused family and shared his personal story about coming from an abused family environment. His mother took steps to protect the family. I know this story well.... it is MY story.

My family growing up was an alcoholic family with my father being a philanderer and my mother rather nuts about it. She drank herself to death with a suicide at my age of 11. She carved out her pain in very embarrassing ways throughout our life. Restaurants and horrible scenes and so many embarrasing moments for me and my family and in every memory I have. She committed suicide when I was eleven years old. My father was a philanderer of women and it drove my mother nuts. She was most probably bi-polar, alcoholic and it was impossible for her to deal with the problems that my father presented to her in life. My father was an alcoholic, as well.

She committed suicide when I was eleven. I was alone in the house with her when this occurred. I was use to cooking dinner and putting her to bed when I was eleven. I saw her going out with other men from my library school window when I was eleven. I knew she saw other men. I put her to bed most nights and saw with horror her suspicions and accusations of my father. There were many weekends that my sister and I and my father physcially took her down and remove a knife from her. Her intent was to kill my father. I know she was distraught and helpless and may have been helpless in her struggle, in my present awareness of past events, I can only remember she hurt us all as we struggled to maintain a normal existenance in the relative world.

I knew things were terrible wrong. My mother committed suicide on May 18, 1958.

It took many years of working towards recovery to finally see my mother as a victim. She came to see me in my dreams (which were many  over a period of time) to finally ask me if I had no compassion for her at all. I had so much anger for my mother. She hurt our family with her behavior and it took many years for me to be able to say....that I forgave her and to find compassion for her. I love my Mother and I forgive her for all things.

Life moves in patterns. I married an abusive man. He continued the abusive manner of life. He sexually abused my children. I have lost both my children. One to bi-polar disease and a completed suicide and one through rejection. My son's loss having devastated me in all ways, now gives way to loss of my daughter. She being the strong one, the one who could function.....nevertheless damaged. I love her deeply and even though one called louder than the other, the love was no less strong for both.

During the Christmas season, I call out to you to contriubte to an abused family and help Bob Stewart's generous offer of helping an abusive family situation. Let someone know someone cares.....out of nowhere a caring hand appears. It saves lives. God bless Bob Stewart and his giving heart and story of success! It inspires us all.

Bob Stewart's Post on helping out an Abused Family. We've almost made Bob's goals for this family. Feel the compassion and kick in your help for this family!

goldhillsblackbarname-300x27 Redding Real Estate ~ Gold Hills Winter Market Review 11/1/08-11/30/08

**With the Wall Street fiasco and the uncertainty in the Banks lending, we have had sharp list price decline and a 6.7% drop in closed or sold listings for Redding. We will continue to see foreclosures and short sales which will influence the market for further decline. If you need to sell in this market you should act as prices will continue to decline. For Buyers if you are interested in the entry level market, now may be a good opportunity for First Time Buyers and Investors with interest rates at good lows. The numbers work. The higher priced market segments will continue to see decline.

Gold Hills remains to be one of Redding's most prestigious communities with beautiful luxury amenities, views of three mountain ranges and the opportunity to enjoy the Shasta Lifestyle! We aer seeing declining prices for this local market in access of the general market trend.

What we saw for the month of November is falling prices and fewer buyers. Listings came down and sold listings came down. A combination of factors are causing the market to continue to slow and decline. The Wall Street fiasco and the credit concerns hampering the market have slowed the market considerably. First Time Home Buyers may have more opportunity than most buyers. Foreclosures and short sales continue to be a percentage of the market that causes the effect of decline in prices. Entry level market prices remain attractive for First Time Home Buyers and Investors.

Old Fashion Ways Remain Relevant in the New Age of Technology!

old fashioned waysI found myself pondering life and where we find ourselves this day and age. I was polishing my sterling silver Victorian tea set and thinking to myself....I could not sell this to anyone in a million years. Who has time to polish silver these days. I found it rather comforting to be polishing my silver tea set.

I was busy today cooking for our client appreciation day on Sunday. I got a call to show property tomorrow in the middle of the busy day preparing for our party....the life of a Realtor. I'm very pleased to get the call. It's on a Victorian home here in Redding that is a short sale. We need an offer and sounds like these people are interested.

As I polished my silver tea set, I thought how interesting it was to be doing something that time has past by.

I think that I am guilty of getting caught up by technology and forgetting that relationships are what we are about.

I spent the last three days calling all my clients inviting them to our party and hearing their news and getting up to date. I have had a very inspiring three days and polishing my silver tea set seem to cognize for me that we need to balance the old with the new and hold on to those values of our relationships.

We can enhance how we help people, however it is our connection and relationship that forges the future of our business.
