Whisketown is located on the southeastern edge of the Klamath-Siskiyou ecoregion, which has been designated as a World Heritate Site, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and an area of Global Botanical Significance by the World Conservation Union.
The Klamath Mountains are one of the richest temperate coniferous forest regions of the world and provide valuable habitat.
Whiskeytown host three species of flowers that are endemic to the Klamath range, Canyon Creek Stonecrop, Snow Mountain Beardtongue and Shasta County Arnica and one species of grass this found only in Whiskeytown and nowhere else in the world. These and many other species are dependent on intact forest and healthy watersheds for their continued existence.
The Friends of Whiskeytown--Join this non-profit organization dedicated to helping the National Park Service restore and protect the manificent resources and recreational opportunities at Whiskeytown.
