Whiskeytown Lake ~ Crazy Boat Day ~ Shasta County Fun and Sun!

We took our obligatory trip to Whiskeytown Lake this last Sunday. Every Sunday that we don't do an Open House, which is seldom, we promise our dog Ginger that we will go to the Lake. She's learning to swim and I like to watch the boats come and go and all the going's on around getting that boat in the water and getting it out. People are generally nice and help each other. You seldom see anyone be mean or disrespectful. This day was no exception. While there were lots of boats (more than I remember) everyone was courteous and helpful to each other.

boat 1

The catamarans and sailboats are always my favorites. Connection to wind, water and sailing application....good stuff!

Catamaran2

Catamaran 2 is heading out for a sail. This quy really knew his sailing and was an expert. Nice to watch!

Sailboat Distance

Nothing better to watch than a sailboat in the distance. Pretty country and a gorgeous lake aren't bad either!

Need for Speed

This is a horse of a different color. Need for speed. Big engine with not much boat. He's waiting for a buddy that had engine trouble. You can see the Patio boats in the distance. Get a load of the big one with the huge GAS grill strapped to the bow. Love it!

Need for Speed 2

Here's our guy with engine trouble....said it didn't look good. Everyone helped get him back to shore and load up! Pretty boats...but not my style!

Canoe

This works. Nothing better than a purist! Simple and basic! It's all good!

Glastron

Oldie but a goodie! Glastron open bow. This is very similar to a boat David is currently restoring. He bought it for $300 and is half way done. It will be a little jewel when he's done!

Canadian Geese

There's even room for the Canadian Geese! They were so confident and just moved in and among the boats coming and going!

Well it's hard to pick a winner...they are all cool in their own way....but I guess I pick the Canoe for first place and the Geese come in second. All in all it was a great boating day and they were all winners!
