Having "A Life" and Being Realtor ~ Can It Be?

It's hard being green. Kermit was a wise frog indeed. While "being green" was Kermit's very nature, the nature of Realtors is to work all the time. I've been working at changing my spots....workaholic for many years and I wish to share some changes I've made and my commitment to "having a life".

Here are the points to my success (redefined I might add):

  • I no longer work 12-15 hour days.
  • I have knowing confidence that my business will continue to grow
  • I time block so that I can have time off
  • I spend time with my husband
  • I spend time with my puppy
  • I call my clients to just chat
  • I wake each day to acknowledge how grateful I am for the good things in my life
  • I do positive affirmation daily on all aspects of my life
  • I will work with motivated sellers and knowledgeable buyers
  • I will help to motivate sellers and buyers to be knowledgeable about the trending market
  • I will continue to develop a massive Internet presence and marketing system for my clients

Life is Good and Work is Good! It is our choice!

I am Jeanean Gendron and you can reach me at 530 276-7417. I answer my phone (except on my day off). I will return calls the following day.

Good Luck going spotless... it's not easy being a Realtor who is willing to giveup the joys and opportunity to run out the door on Sunday morning just to show a house to an un-loyal buyer. LOL...

It is all in having a plan Jeanean as you have well written about. I am working on going to 4 day work weeks myself.

Jeanean real estate as a business can be all consuming, but we have to remember there are other things in life. Sounds like you have your priorities in order.

Reading this blog is so relavent at this point. I was planning a nice breakfast instead I am going to show property today. But as we need the money in this market .... I do try my best to balance but it is tough

I like your points. I think people just have to define what is really important to them in life and not let things get in the way. Sounds like you have made a transformation and it is nice to see. When we all look back at our lives, what do we want to say about it, that we sold a bunch of homes? Not me. I enjoy real estate but sellling homes is a means to an ends. We enjoy it but realize there are things that come first in life and balance is important to being happy. Thanks for the post.

I too find that balance is crucial to maintain.  I really like many of your points...blocking time is good...committing to a day off too....and working with knowledgeable buyers and motivated sellers....thanks
