Redding CA - Senior Realtor Makes Disparaging Remarks About ActiveRain--I recently heard from a fellow Realtor in my office that a Senior Realtor with many years of experience who has great technical skills and reputed to be knowledgeable about "The Internet" made a comment that was disparaging about ActiveRain at our Tuesday Company meeting.
It was very surprising to me to hear about it. I have great respect for the Realtor and it came as a surprise on his very demonstrable opinion of AR. His physical gestures were described in detail and offensive to this member of the AR membership.
I guess you either "Get it" or you don't! I've written about this phenomenon previously and it still remains a conundrum to me. Having spent the better years of my professional life at Apple Computer working on team development and later in life running my own software development company that was engaged in helping work groups in performance improvement, I find such short sighted vision rather interesting. The best thing any individual can do is to engage in a learning infrastructure that produces a second derivative for learning and improvement. That is in essence what AR is. It IS a learning and improvement infrastructure for business development and performance improvement.
My experience here in the RAIN has been rather astonishing. I've learned so much here about SEO and building that pervasive marketing presence. It results in all my business. I don't do floor time. I don't do direct mail. I don't do print advertising. I answer my phone to people that want to do business with me. I don't sell anything....I just answer my phone. I have good skills and so I close the deal and have new clients.
It's all about the web and organic SEO. The combination of a custom IDX solution, Hyper Localism, and 15 blog sites that market niche markets provides me all my business. Where did I learn how to do this.....AR! THANK YOU ACTIVERAIN.
It remains the way of the few and while we have seen it change from 4% to 6% who blog, we are still leading the way for the real estate industry. I have over 3000 hours of learning here in the RAIN and the RAIN remains the anchor to my business. I have three AR accounts. One for my main real estate business, one for Ranch and Land and one for our software development business.
Google my name and look at the results. Google my listings and look at the results. My marketing brings me ample business for the lifestyle I choose.
If you don't know what you are criticizing....better left unsaid. One has to wonder on the motive of such remarks!
Redding CA - Senior Realtor Makes Disparaging Remarks About ActiveRain--I am Jeanean Gendron and I personally think that ActiveRain SEO rocks and if you'd like to talk to me about it....bring it on. I guarantee that you will loose the debate...why...because I know first hand and you don't. Walk a mile in my shoes before you talk about what you don't know! You can reach me at 530 276-7417. I answer my phone. While attempting to hypothesize why such a Senior Realtor would make such comments....I'm going to remain positive and think it due to lack of knowledge and not of a mean intention. Word of Advice: knowledge is powerful when understood and shared. Lack of knowledge is dangerous and can actually hurt others who may need what you can't see or don't value.

Jeanean, I totally agree. You either get it or you don't. I say let him disparage all he wants and you can laugh all the way to the bank!
Jeanean, I heard something similar. A prominent agent said he was 'so done' with Active Rain I looked him up - he hadn't even started. Not one blog, no profile info other than minimal contact information. How on earth do you stop what you haven't started??!!
I agree with Jeanean. I think that Active Rain is wonderful and its potential is out of this world. I am hoping to build a huge real estate business using the knowledge that can be gained from this website and also with people being able to more easily find me on the world wide web.
Hi Janean, she really doesn't get it at all. The community here is great. I am for the first time able to do a bit on the computer tonight. Yeah. I have missed you.
Christie, I agree in one way, however my husband and I are both collaborators and we know the power of collaboration. Having spent the last 20 years applying the knowledge of second derivitive sustainable improvement through collaborative knowledge sharing, I feel the loss for others more than this individual. Normally, I would not even respond however I felt that harm was caused by a personal opinion rather than providing a view at the opportunities. I question such behavior. Thank you for coming in on this. I do have to agree....You either "Get it" or you don't! The "Chosen" few....I guess. How sad!
Karen, I don't believe this person is on AR either. I don't know for sure. It is one of those things that you just can't understand. Even if I don't personally like something, I don't bash it at a Company meeting. I personally don't think that print media works any longer, however for those agents in my area that have 20 or 30 years of business and a SOI from those years of work, print media remains effective. Different business models utilize different solutions. I come from a technology background and the transparancy of blogging to my clients works for me. I only want to work with people that I connect with. Most of my clients are technology-oriented and want the convenience I have built for them when looking for a home or finding a well-marketed home on the Internet. Diversity is wonderful and it all works. Why Bash something that might just help a few? That is where I have a problem with this behavior!
Hello Jack (John), thanks for coming in on the discussion. Yes, you will be so glad that you have made a choice to use your writing skills to help your Consumer. Blogging is a wonderful way to provide the Consumer with knowledge about real estate and to help them understand the trending market conditions. When you write well and offer value, it is appreciated and they pick up that phone and they call you. I can't tell you how many times I am told how much they appreciate my sites and the marketing infrastructure that David and I have built for them. We provide every convenience we can conceive of for them. We have saved searches for just about every search term we can think of. Why? So that the Consumer just has to click the mouse and now they are looking at "Waterfront" properties. It is the way of the future! You Go Jack....you will be glad!
Dear Paula,
So glad you are feeling stronger. I just sent you an email this morning. We have missed you as well. So glad to have you back even if for just a bit. Take it slow and get strong my dear friend! Thinking of you.
