Devestation Area from the eruption that occurred on June 14, 1914. B.F. Loomis aimed his camera at Lassen Peak and exposed a series of glass plate negatives that captured an eruption as it unfolded. An immense mudflow triggered by newly erupted lava on May 19, 1915 and searing gasses from a violent explosion on May 22, destroyed a swath of forest and wildlife on the valcano's northeast flank, creating the Devestation Area.

This is one of a series of photos that Loomis captured. The entire series show the 8 stages of the event.
